Lagos is a city on the west of the Algarve region located in southern Portugal. This town has been a popular tourist resort for decades and is the perfect holiday destination to experience a mix of authentic Portuguese culture, stunning beaches and modern tourist facilities and attractions.

Lagos is unique in respect to other resorts in the Algarve as it is much more than just a tourist resort. You can still see the remains of the period in which the Moors ruled the town, in particular the walls that surround the old town. There are plenty of historical attractions dotted around the city to visit for those who are interested in the history of the city, including a 17th century fort and magnificent Baroque churches!

Flights from all of Ireland’s major airports (Cork, Dublin, Kerry, Knock, Shannon) operate to Faro up to seven days a week during summer. From Dublin it is on average a 2hour 55min flight to Faro and from Faro airport is it a 60-minute drive to Lagos.

Lagos host an annual street food festival in mid-July. During this festival you will find plenty of food stalls selling some of the best local and international cuisine. There are also plenty of shows during this festival, with many live music performances taking place around the city.

Lagos is situated in the Algarve, a region that experiences cool winters and hot summers with plenty of sunshine. The best time to visit Lagos is between June and September, when temperatures average in the high twenties.
